US Congress Extends Wood Stove Tax Credit
It’s official: The US Congress has passed budget legislation that includes a consumer incentive to purchase a high-efficiency wood or pellet stove or insert.- This incentive is in the form of a tax credit (yes, a “credit”; not a “deduction”).
- This tax credit is for $300, and can apply to the purchase of any EPA-certified wood or pellet stove or insert that has a tested efficiency rating of 75% or greater.
- The tax credit is good for purchases made during all of 2016, and applies retroactively to purchases made during all of 2015 as well.
- Virtually all SBI Drolet and Century EPA-certified stoves and inserts meet this efficiency requirement. Within two weeks, a Certificate of Compliance will be posted on our web sites. This certificate will list qualified models for each brand. Please note that the appliance’s optimum efficiency is also indicated in the characteristics section for each individual product.
Speaking of Consumer Incentives …
- SBI offers Consumer Promotions throughout the year. For January 2016, consumers are eligible to receive a $100 rebate with the purchase of a Century CW2900 Insert.
- Also for January 2016, consumers are eligible for a $200 rebate with the purchase of a Drolet Heatpro wood furnace.
- These consumer promotions are entirely administered and paid for by SBI.
